Washington state GLP-1 questions
Is telehealth prescribing legal for weight loss medications in Washington?
Yes. Washington state law permits telehealth prescribing for weight management medications without a mandatory in-person visit, provided an appropriate patient-provider relationship is established. WISH operates under a physician-directed async telehealth model that complies with Washington state telehealth regulations (RCW 74.09.325 and WAC 246-919).
Does Washington state Medicaid (Apple Health) cover GLP-1 medications?
Washington Apple Health covers some GLP-1 medications for patients with Type 2 diabetes, but coverage for obesity treatment specifically is limited and subject to prior authorization. WISH does not bill insurance or Medicaid — WISH is a cash-pay telehealth practice. If you have Apple Health, discuss coverage options with your primary care provider first.
How does medication get delivered to Washington addresses?
Compounded medications ship from a licensed 503A compounding pharmacy via 2-day temperature-controlled (cold-chain) shipping. Shipping is included in the price shown — every order, every month, no itemized add-ons — regardless of your location within Washington, including rural addresses.
Can I use WISH if I also see a primary care doctor in Washington?
Yes. WISH operates independently but strongly encourages you to keep your primary care physician informed of any new medications. We provide documentation of your prescriptions that you can share with your PCP. WISH does not replace your primary care relationship.
Do you also serve Oregon and Montana?
Yes. WISH holds active medical licenses in Oregon and Montana in addition to Washington. The program, pricing, and intake process are identical across all three states.
What if I am not approved?
Your card is only charged after a WISH physician approves your prescription. If a WISH physician determines you do not qualify, your card is never charged — there is no charge to refund.
